Social Media Management

We manage organic social — strategy, content and community. We do not run advertising campaigns on any platform, and we would rather say that plainly than take the budget and subcontract it.

Request this service

Organic only, and what that means

Being direct about the boundary: this service covers content, publishing and community management on your own channels. It does not include managing advertising campaigns on any platform. If paid channels are part of your mix, you will need a separate provider, and the measurement we set up will serve them without us needing to touch the campaigns.

That boundary is a deliberate choice about what we are good at, not a gap we are hiding.

Fewer channels, done properly

The most common failure is being present on six platforms and active on none. Each channel is a different audience with different expectations, and doing one well beats doing five adequately.

For most UK B2B, that is LinkedIn and little else. For trades and local services, it is often a single well-maintained Facebook page plus the review habit. For visual retail, Instagram earns its place. We would rather recommend closing three channels than pretend to maintain them.

How social supports search

Social links do not directly pass ranking authority — that is worth stating because plenty of agencies imply otherwise. What social actually does for search is indirect and real: it puts content in front of people who might link to it, builds the branded search volume that search engines treat as a quality signal, and gives your best content a second life beyond the day it was published.

Treating social as a distribution channel for work you have already done is far more effective than treating it as a separate content treadmill.

What we do

  • Channel audit — which platforms deserve your effort and which do not
  • Content strategy tied to what the business actually sells
  • Production and scheduling, with a cadence you can sustain
  • Community management and response handling
  • Distribution of blog, guide and campaign content
  • Reporting against enquiries and branded search, not follower counts

What we will not pretend

Social does not suit every business, and we would rather say so before taking a retainer. If your customers are found through search and referral, and your sector has no active community on any platform, social is a cost with a slow and uncertain return. Several trades and professional services fall into this category.

We would rather you spent that budget on local search or content and kept a single well-maintained profile than run five channels that produce nothing.

Handling complaints in public

The part most businesses are unprepared for. A public complaint is visible to every prospect who looks you up, and the response is read far more than the complaint itself.

What works: respond quickly, acknowledge the specific issue rather than issuing a template, and move the detail to a private channel without appearing to dodge. What does not: arguing, deleting, or the corporate non-apology, all of which reliably make things worse. We set up a response framework so whoever is on the account is not improvising.

Choosing the platform, not defaulting to it

The right channel is wherever your buyers already are, which is often not where the business assumes. A few patterns hold in the UK: LinkedIn for B2B and professional services; Facebook still dominant for local trades and community businesses despite its reputation; Instagram where the product is visual; TikTok where the audience is genuinely young and you can produce video at pace.

The test is simple — can you name specific customers who found you through that platform, or does it just feel like somewhere you ought to be? If it is the second, it is probably not worth the retainer.

Measurement that means something

Follower count is the least useful number in marketing. It is easy to grow, easy to buy, and almost unrelated to revenue.

What we report instead: traffic that arrives from social and what it does afterwards, branded search volume over time, enquiries attributable to social, and engagement from the specific accounts that matter in your sector. A hundred followers who buy beat ten thousand who scroll.

Social Media questions

Do you run advertising campaigns?

No. This is organic management only — content, publishing and community. If you run paid channels through another provider, the tracking we set up will serve them too.

How many posts per week?

Fewer than most agencies quote. A sustainable cadence you can maintain with genuine content beats a schedule that produces filler by week three. For most B2B clients two or three considered posts a week outperforms daily noise.

Does social media help our Google rankings?

Not directly — social links do not pass ranking authority. Indirectly it does, by putting content in front of people who might link to it and by building branded search volume. Be sceptical of anyone claiming a direct effect.
